The Global Day of Prayer movement was conceived as a vision God gave South African lay leader Graham Power in
Capetown in 2001.
In 2003, approximately 23 million Christians in 28 African countries united in prayer. By 2004, Christians in all 56 countries on the African continent prayed together. In 2007, events took place in all but six of the world's countries. By 2010, the movement is expected to unite 500 million people as they pray together.
In 2007 in Ottawa, we welcomed 300 at Dominion-Chalmers in the heart of the city. Prior to the main event at Pentecost
there will be Ten Days of Prayer which will
take pace at a series of churches across our city.
Then comes the glorious gathering on Pentecost Sunday, 11 May 2008 at Dominion-Chalmers United Church. It will begin at 6pm and run approximately 2 hours.
There will be a packed schedule of praise in many forms, prayer in several languages and joy in the Lord as we
worship together. We welcome children ages 3 - 11 to come for their own special programme. Check what's available

The Global Day of Prayer headquarters in South Africa has done a tremendous job with the promotion DVD for 2008. The material consists of uplifting
and astonishing examples of God at work in today's world, an inspiration for all. We have customized it for Ottawa, including a segment from the Ottawa 2007 event. This is a "must show" disk for congregations and
individuals alike, and a copy can be obtained by sending a $5 donation to Tony Copple, GDOP Ottawa treasurer, 61 Highmont Crt, Kanata, ON K2T 1B2, with your address.
