Global Day of Prayer
Ottawa
27 May 2007

It seems a long time ago now that we realized God had settled on Dominion-Chalmers as the venue for the event. We had previously checked out several other possibilities. Now we also had a place for committee meetings.

A week before the main event, the chair of the local organizing team, The Reverend Fred Milnes and team member Tony Copple spent a glorious Saturday morning bill posting in the downtown core. This was an activity that neither of them had any experience of whatsoever, yet it proved a rewarding one in many ways, becoming a prayer walk. The first bill was posted in front of Dominion-Chalmers parking lot.

Finally following the 10 days of Prayer, the Day came: Pentecost 2007. The program had been put together with such care that on the day everything ran smoothly and exactly to time. All our prayer leaders showed up and encouraged us enormously, with their great diversity of backgrounds and languages. The contemporary music led by Paulo Mugarura with Ron Bets on bass was marvellous, and Teresa van den Boogaard was astounding on organ for the hymns. A high point was the liturgical dance choreographed by Jane VandenBerg. Having watched the GDOP around the world on God TV for much of the rest of the day, I truly felt Ottawa was right there with the best of them. But it is One Holy Spirit!

Technical wizzards Mark Warren and David Gardner performed faultlessly
