The final paragraph of Marc'c letter gives a prayer that would be fitting for
Greetings all,
This short note is a little bit late in coming, but “blessed are the
flexible, for they shall bend and not be broken”. I am writing specifically
as to Pentecost this year. Normally, while I have a high value on
understanding the significance of the Jewish festivals as they relate to
God’s ways and will for our day, I have not felt a sense from the Lord for
the actual dates of years gone past. I know that several other prophetic
ministries do focus on the dates as they relate to the specific year we are
in. Without wanting at all to diminish the important specific focus’ other
ministries have had those insights have not been one’s I have been drawn
to.
However, I do have a strong sense re; Pentecost this year. As many of you
know I believe that from late 07’ to early this year was the “season of the
Broad Place”. It has been a timing in the Holy Spirit for crossing over the
“Jordans” and coming into a place of promise for our ministries and the
Kingdom of God. 09’, however, is the year of increased fruitfulness. It is a
time to confront the giants of the land and pioneer new things- despite what
is happening economically, politically, or weather wise in the natural. In a
time when everything that can be shaken is being shaken the Spirit of God is
with us and we are moving into a deeper level of knowing God’s glory,
provision, and power. (Please see the article on our web site- “Pioneering
in 09” at www.marcdupontministries.org).
As Pentecost, or Shavuot in the Hebrew, basically symbolizes celebrating
reaping and first fruits and since “9”, Biblically speaking, is always
symbolic of fruit I think it could be very important and possibly very,
very, important to be at the right place and at the right time this
Pentecost. At least, I believe we need to be intentional about hungering and
expecting some sort of Acts 2 and Acts 4 release of the Holy Spirit. For
over a year now, I have sensed the Lord speaking to me of the importance of
the years 2009-2011. While I wont’ say to much at this time I do very much
believe that these years are important in that they are going to setting the
stage for great outpourings of the Kingdom of God even in the midst of
tremendous problems on earth.
Additionally, Alan Vincent, an apostle whom many of you know of has believed
that this years’ Pentecost is also one of great importance. For those of you
unfamiliar with Allen he and his wife pioneered a powerful breakthrough
revival in India in the 60’s and 70’s. As well, they have influenced two
generations of leaders around the globe. Three times now I have discussed
with Allen the signs he has made note of and what the Lord has shown him
regarding this year. While I am not in habit of championing others words, I
have been impressed with Allen’s integrity and his walk with the Lord. I
will not go into detail with what Allen has seen, other than to say that
someone whom I have enormous respect for is sensing the very things I am
sensing for this year.
According to the Jewish calendar Pentecost falls on Friday, May 29nth. The
Church, which has been influenced, by the Julian and Gregorian Calendars,
places Pentecost on Sunday, the 31st of May. I am not sure whether just one
of these days or, possibly, both are important. Unusually, I am home this
Pentecost. We will be doing a prophetic conference at my home church. While
our conference ends on Saturday we will be doing a special time of prayer
and worship Sunday night with an expectation of a real move and impartation
of the Holy Spirit. As well, on Friday night we will be at least partially
focused on Pentecost.
I would strongly encourage you to do some sort of special meeting on one, or
possibly both nights. For me the question is not so much how many people
attend, but rather who attends. Even if it is something low key like in a
leaders home (an upper room is preferable) gather people around you who are
hungry for God and spend some time worshipping, waiting, and praying to the
Lord for an increase of the Kingdom of God. Specifically I would encourage
you to pray the prayer of the early church in Acts 4 when they prayed with
one accord. “One accord” in the original language simply means praying
fervently and in unity.
“O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You,
my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water.
Thus I have seen You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory.”
Psalm 63.1 &2
In the love of Christ Jesus,
